A running bamboo with a distinctive yellow stripe in the culm groove (or sulcus). Evergreen, sometimes called 'Zig-Zag Bamboo' because of the behaviour of some of the canes at their bases. Very straight, neat, well organised looking plant with yellow canes, growing to 6 or 7 metres. An aggressive spreader, its dense upright growth makes a good hedge or privacy screen.
