Common name: Lady's slipper, Mysore trumpet vine; Indian clock vine

Native to: Southern India

 

Thunbergia can be annuals or perennials, often twining climbers, with simple opposite leaves and trumpet-shaped or salver-shaped flowers borne singly in leaf axils, or in racemes, in summer. T. mysorensis is a vigorous evergreen climber with twining stems to 6m, with elliptic leaves and 2-lipped flowers 5cm in length, with a gaping yellow throat and reflexed dark red lobes.
