Landscaping Process

A landscaping project typically involves several steps to transform an outdoor space into an aesthetically pleasing and functional area.

background
1.

Initial consultation

The first step is to meet with you and discuss your landscaping goals, preferences, and budget. We will assess the site, take measurements, and gather information about any existing features, such as trees, structures, or utilities as well as evaluate the existing conditions, including the topography, soil quality, drainage patterns, and available sunlight.

2.

Design & planning

Based on your requirements, we will develop a design plan. This includes creating a layout, selecting plantings, deciding on hardscape features (such as patios, walkways, or water features), and considering drainage and irrigation needs. The design plan will be presented to you  for approval and modifications.

3.

Site preparation

Before starting any construction or planting, the site needs to be prepared. This involves clearing any existing vegetation, removing debris, and grading the land to ensure proper drainage. In some cases, soil may need to be amended to improve its quality.

4.

Hardscape installation

The hardscape elements, such as patios, pathways, retaining walls, or outdoor structures, are constructed according to the design plan. This typically involves excavation, levelling the ground, installing the necessary materials (such as concrete, stone, or wood), and ensuring proper drainage and stability.

5.

Softscape installation

Once the hardscape is in place, the focus shifts to planting and softscape elements. This includes selecting and installing plants, trees, shrubs, flowers, and ground covers. We consider factors like sunlight exposure, soil conditions, and the desired aesthetic appeal.

6.

Lighting & irrigation

Outdoor lighting can add ambiance, security, and functionality to a landscape. The installation of landscape lighting involves placing fixtures strategically, wiring them, and connecting them to a power source. Additionally, if an irrigation system is part of the design plan, it will be installed to ensure efficient and automated watering of the plants.

7.

Mulching & finishing touches

Mulch is often added around plants to conserve moisture, suppress weed growth, and enhance the visual appeal. Once the mulching is complete, any final touches, such as installing edging, decorative features, or seating areas, are added to complete the project.

8.

Clean-up & final inspection

After the installation is complete, we will clean up the site, remove any construction debris, and ensure that everything is in order. A final inspection is conducted to ensure that the project meets your expectations and the design plan.

Ongoing Maintenance

Landscaping projects require ongoing maintenance to keep the space looking its best. This may involve regular watering, pruning, fertilizing, and pest control.
